School Council
At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School we believe that our pupils should have a voice and actively work to change the world around them for the better. Our school council help us lead the school forward, making it the best school it can be.
The School Council meets weekly with Mrs Ali and makes important decisions about key issues in the school. It also has a heavy involvement in organising school fundraising events to help benefit others. You can learn more about our fundraising by clicking on the tab on the left-hand side.
The council is made up of one representative from each class; pupils are elected by their peers based on their pledge towards school improvement.
The children are responsible for gathering the views of their peers as well as suggesting brilliant ideas of their own - and helping them come to fruition.
The student council is involved in organising extra-curricular activities; they allow the school to be exposed to external matters outside the classroom; they plan and deliver assemblies to the whole school; they implement new strategies and are outstanding role models for the school.
Only recently, our School Council has created and organised several initiatives. These include organising non-uniform days and selling lucky dips at playtime to raise money for new playground equipment. They take a lead on healthy eating, distributing fruit at breaktimes, and also organise special events such as fundraisers and celebrations.
